In this post I wanted to show the importance of capturing the wedding details to tell the full story of a wedding day. As a self-described documentary wedding photographer I always take a ton of detail shots, but post mostly photos from the portrait session, because those are typically my favorites. As I worked on Valerie and Shea’s images, I noticed that you could almost get the same feeling from just the detail images as you could from looking through the whole collection of photos. There are no faces in this post – only images that attempt to convey the ambiance and “mood” of the day. To me, “detail shots” sometimes include things like a simple gesture like the way a couple holds hands, the way the dress lies on the floor, the condensation forming on a glass in monsoon season, etc.
The images in these composites display pretty small (a feature I hate about this blog format and hope to change soon), so keep in mind you can click to enlarge, then use the back button to return to the post. I’ll be posting more of their photos and portraits soon!
